Cooking with Kids

Kids love to help in the kitchen!  When kids cook, they learn about many new foods.  Kids can help with many different activities in the kitchen.  Inviting kids to help out in the kitchen will make them more likely to try and enjoy new foods while getting to spend time with them.
Here are some activities that young children can help with in the kitchen.

  • Wash fruits and vegetables.
  • Scrub and clean vegetables such as potatoes and carrots.
  • Tear lettuce for a salad.
  • Stirring ingredients together.
  • Reading the directions on a recipe.
  • Pick which vegetables to go into a salad and soup.
  • Set the table with napkins, place mats, dishes and utensils.
